multiple myeloma

I have a good friend who was recently diagnosed with m.m. He is supposedly in stage 1.5 of a three-stage disease. He is presently going for radiation treatments each morning to help control the terrible pain. Would love to hear from anyone out there who has been diagnosed and living with m.m. as far as what your experiences have been with treatments, medications, etc. Thank you.

Hello,
I have been recently diagnosed with MM. My doctors orginally thought that it was best to wait before they started treating me. But with new symptoms of pain on the left side of my head and groin, lower back, hip legs, arms. My GP feels that we need to move forward. I really don't know what I am in for. Does he have blurred vision and pain in his head? I also Have Thyroid Cancer which I can't be treated for becasue I maxed out my treatments. Hopefully we will all be okay, I know of this weather man that has MM and he is doing fine after 3 or 4 years now. So that is something promising to know and I also have a neighbor that her sister has it as well and she is really holding her own. Best of luck Maureen

My Mom was diagnosed -stage 1a, in May 2004....10 months later she was in remission or rather the cancer was dormant, well, thsi past Friday she was told it has returned, We did the thylidimide (sp) therapy the first time, she is 70 years old so the dr went easy with her, she did not have vomiting or hair loss...she did have tiningling feet and numb sensations, weakness ect. We are going to do the thylidimide again. I hope all goes well for you and yours and our prayers are with you!

Hello, i was diagnosed with MM. IN 1994,MY BACK BROKE,AND THATS WHEN THEY FOUND THE CANCER.I HAD A 12 HOUR SURGEYON MY BACK, THEN THEY GAVE ME RADIATION . THEN OUT OF THE BLUE, I WAS COUGHING AND BROKE A BONE IN MY CHEST, SO ABOUT 8 MONTHS LATER I GOT MY OWN STEM CELLS. THIS WAS IN FEB 1995.I JUST TRY AND KEEP MY MIND ON OTHER THINGS, AND TRY AND BE STRONG.IT I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD 2 YEARS TOO LIVE. IT HAS BEEN 12 YEARS AND I AM STILL HERE.

please be very aggressive fighting this disease learn as much as you can and get involved with clinical trials i have lost my father to this and i feel if we had been more aggressive it could have given him more time with us

my mom has just been diagnosed with acute mm. she is to start a chemo pill, prednisone and the thalidimine to fight this. any info out there would be most appreciated to help us fight this disease. thankyou and God bless. D.O.

My dad has just been diagnosed with this, after suffering severe backache for a while. A bone in his back has collapsed but appears to be resting steadily now. He's just starting into chemo. I would appreciate any advice or hope you can offer. I feel very uninformed about this disease, and would like to hear from others who suffer but continue to successfully fight it.
