Hi, I'm a 48 year old mother of three. Two years ago at the age of 46 I thought I had a urinary trac infection. Bloating, frequent urination, what did I know. It turns out I had a 20cm malignant tumor on my ovary. diagnosis Aug. 22. Complete hysterectomy Aug,24th. I had the most wonderful Gyno oncologist. Doctors wanted me to begin immediate chemo. Dr. had told me after the surgery HE GOT IT ALL pathology results on pelvic washings were clean. With that information I decided AGAINST Chemo. Could'nt understand why if he got it all and pelvic washings oh and lymph nodes that he had removed during the surgery were clean I needed Chemo. It has been two years this month. Since then I have kept every followup appointment 10 in two years also regular mammogram I've had a pelvic cat scan and chest x-ray. All nine CA125s have been around 8 . I did clean up my dietary lifestyle. Follow a cancer protocol diet. And get exercise (walking). Don't wait with those vague symptoms. If your Dr. doesn't mention ovarian cancer, then you should! CA125 is only a blood test but it could save your life. I had irregular bleeding for over two years always mentioned it to my regular gyno. and he waited. After that time he did a uterine ablasion on me. Bleeding stopped for nine months. Then it started again. I now know that it may have been an early symptom my Dr. never even considered the possibility . No longer my Dr.... 14  out of 15 found this valuable. Do you?

I was also stage 3a when I was diagnosed, but my CA-125 was elevated (289). If you ever want to talk, leave me a comment on my profile -- we could even exchange email addresses if you'd like.

I just don't understand how you all are able to even function with masses/cysts so large... it's extremely painful but bearable to have a cyst that is inching past 6cm and I can feel that getting larger, I just don't know how you could have even moved with a 20cm mass...

I just know you must be a strong woman...

I had an ultrasound carried out by a sonographer not radiologist and she said I have a 5cm cyst on left ovary but would not commit herself in offering further information she only said that uterus and cervix are clear and the doctor may want to remove cyst so speak to him was her attitude. If it is cancerous at least I know it is only in ovary. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I am scheduled to have a total hysterectomy on Dec.16th. I am 57 years old. My ultrasound showed a 20cm (8 inch) mass on my left ovary. I know it has grown since that test as all of my clothes are tight and I look pregnant.I am miserable.LOL.They are telling me it does not look like anything other than a large cyst. They will do pathology tests while they are in there. I am scared to death. Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for your reply. I think I will wait until I have the surgery before I jump to conclusions about having ovarian cancer. They think it is just a very large cyst that I have probably had since I started menopause 7 years ago. They said my chances of it being ovarian cancer is 1 in 50 because the ultrasound did not show any fluid around the area and I guess it has that if it is ovarian cancer. They never ever suggested for me to take that CA 125 test. I am just going to continue to pray about it. Whatever it is it is. Worrying about it will not change anything. I have alot of faith in God and I try to stay positive about stress, health, etc. Sue
