A little worried but feel like im being a hypochondriac!
Jul 16 2006, 9:37 AM EDT Hi....I have been feeling not 100% for a few months now, I had a baby 10months ago, and recently I have had what seems to be a constant stomach bug, I cant even eat/drink without cramping and going to loo and I am sooooo tired all the time, my legs and pelvis are aching to the point that im doubled over, i have been saying to my partner for months that I am sure my 1st period will come soon(havent had one yet, since having my baby 10months ago) the pain shoots down my legs! I put my sypmtoms into the search engine and it directed me here! should I be concerned and see my doctor, im worried they will think I am being a hypochondriac, I am 22, almost 23! Thank you 13 out of 14 found this valuable. Do you? |

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 3 years ago when I was 22, so it is possible to develop the disease when you are young. There are a number of benign conditions which could cause the symptoms you are experiencing, including hormonal changes from pregnancy/childbirth/breastfeeding. However, you should certainly have your symptoms checked out. Ask your doctor for a transvaginal ultrasound and blood tests to check your hormone levels as well as your CA 125 (which when elevated can indicate ovarian cancer, as well as other benign conditions. It is often elevated in younger women for benign reasons such as endometriosis or ovarian cysts, but is still considered a useful test in conjunction with imaging.) Whether your symptoms are indicative of ovarian cancer or something benign, you need to have them checked out by your doctor and gynacologist. You shouldn't have to be in discomfort all the time, and you do need to make sure all is right with your body. Best of luck with everything. Do keep us updated if you can, and if you have any other questions post again, either here or on my profile page. And don't worry about being seen as a hypochondriac -- if your doctor thinks that, find another who will take your complaints seriously! Louise, wikiCancer moderator 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
