Late discovery of the ailment / Wrong treatment / Rare nature of carcinoma (Transitional Urothelial Carcinoma) had taken my Dad away from us in Feb, 2007. Still I am agitated within thinking about the doctors' role in the entire process. They performed multiple surgeries, given unnecessary radiation, even chemotherapy and finally they declared that they can do nothing further. Everyday for 18months, we saw him suffering with intense pain. He was very confident and maintained himself very well bearing all the pain. The role of doctors has been very pathetic during the entire treatment process.
From my experience, I could write confidently the following points.. - Don't be afraid of Cancer. Cancer doesn't kill itself but the FEAR will. - Choose your doctor/s carefully. Seek atleast 3-4 opinions from different doctors - Exercise your options. Discuss with your doctor and generally be aware of the disease by researching over the net - There are alternative therapies to choose beyond the traditional ways of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. - Never loose CONFIDENCE in yourself. My name is ashley and I am 17yrs. old. On October 22, 2005 my mom lost her battle against cancer. She started out with breast cancer 5yrs ago. 2yrs later she was diagnosed with lung cancer later we found out she had spinal and brain cancer. It is the hardest thing i have ever had to go throgh and i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. My mom was my best friend and now she is gone. It is hard and i have had to learn alot in the past year, but i know she wouldn't want my life to stop because of her death. I graduate in the class of 2007 and my mom's one wish before she died was to see me graduate i know she's watching and i will grant her one wish. You can e-mail me if you would like to just talk sometime at baby_gurl_2007@ispey.com
