Some researchers had hoped that the cholesterol-reducing statin drugs would also fight cancer. 26 studies concluded that drugs such as Lipitor and Zocor do not treat or prevent cancer. Previous studies that had suggested that statin drugs were effective against cancers were challenged because they were not randomized studies. Randomized studies are considered the best way to determine if a drug is effective.
