Headline: Report: Lilly drug doesn't affect survival in ovarian cancer
Eli Lilly and Co.'s Gemzar has "no apparent effect" on the survival of patients with advanced ovarian cancer and leads to anemia as well as other blood disorders in patients, a staff report by U.S. regulators said. The drug does delay the worsening of cancer symptoms for 2.8 months, the report from the Food and Drug Administration said Friday. The report was prepared in advance of a Monday meeting of an advisory board weighing whether to approve the treatment for that form of cancer.
