Headline: Findings Identify Likely Origins of Prostate Cancer

USA Today reports that researchers found a set of genes that may play a key role in the development of prostate cancer. The discovery is billed as a major breakthrough that changes the way physicians and urologists think about prostate cancer's genetic roots.Until now, doctors thought that prostate cancer was the result of random genetic mutations, however, the new findings, orginally published in the journal Science, suggest that prostate cancer begins after certain identifiable genes fuse. Further research is ongoing but if the findings hold true they could lead to more effective testing, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer in the near future.
