Dusty Springfield
Born with the name of Mary O'Brien in April, 1939, singing legend Dusty Springfield died in 1999 of breast cancer. Her husky voice and rigorous need for perfection led her to become a pop diva who is remembered for timeless songs like "Son of a Preacher Man".
Just ten days after her death, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For good reason.
