Born on the 5th of April, 1908, Bette Davis was not just an actress -- she was a legend. She died of breast cancer in October 1989. Anyone who thinks that fame just fell in her lap can consider this comment she once made to a journalist, 'There wasn't one of my best pictures I didn't have to fight to get.'

Her admirable fighting spirit will be remembered, along with her unforgettable screen presence. She inspires strength still.
